Qualification to the Europa League group stages will make Celtic a “much more attractive” move for Tottenham winger Ryan Sessegnon, according to Michael Brown.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Spurs midfielder claims that Thursday’s win over Sarajevo could swing things in the Hoops’ favour as they chase a late move.
As revealed by Football Insider, the Bhoys have made a bid to sign the 20-year-old on loan, although the Lilywhites are asking for £5million in a loan fee and wages.
The former Fulham speedster has fallen down the pecking order in north London and is yet to feature this season.
Brown believes that the prospect of playing regularly in a European competition could swing things in Celtic’s favour ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
Brown told Football Insider: “Europe, they’ve qualified for the Europa League group stages so that’s the key for them, for him to play regular games.
“I think that for me would be one thing that would sort of make it much more attractive, for sure, to go and get that added experience in Europe.
“I wouldn’t rule out a Premier League club wanting to take him on loan.”
Sessegnon has played just 12 times for Spurs since his £25million move across London from Fulham last summer.
He has had to battle with the likes of Ben Davies and Danny Rose for a place at left-back, while Heung-Min Son, Steven Bergwijn and Gareth Bale are all fighting for a place in attack.
