Alex Bruce has claimed new Rangers signing Florian Kamberi is a real “handful” and predicted he will prove to be a smart acquisition.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Kilmarnock defender explained what it is really like to play against the strapping Swiss-Albanian centre-forward.

Kamberi joined Rangers on deadline day in January on a loan deal that runs for the rest of the season.

Bruce opposed the 6ft 2in front man during his year-long spell at Kilmarnock, that also came to an end last month.

“He’ll give them a little bit of something different,” Bruce told Football Insider. “Obviously Steve will want players who can come in and chip in with goals and he did well at Hibs.

“When I played against him he was a decent player, a decent handful.

“He knows the Scottish league, he scores goals and I’m sure when called upon off the bench or whatever, if he chips in with the odd goal here and there he’ll be a good bit of business.”

Kamberi is an orthodox striker who scored eight goals in 27 appearances for Hibernian this season.

He was even more effective in his debut campaign last term, when his 43 matches yielded 13 goals and seven assists.

For Rangers, Kamberi has yet to break his duck although he has only made two brief appearances as a substitute since his arrival, and was cup-tied for the Scottish Cup win v Hamilton last weekend.

In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that club chiefs have raised their eyebrows at Gerrard transfer decision that’s massively backfired.
