Report: Bruce to meet PL manager to thrash out Aston Villa transfer, loan deal possible
By Harry Sykes
Steve Bruce is ready to meet up with Jose Mourinho for face-to-face talks to thrash out a deal to bring Sam Johnstone to Aston Villa, according to a report.
The Mail claim the Villa and Manchester United bosses are set to negotiate a permanent transfer of the goalkeeper, 24.
It is said that the Midlands club are ready to offer £3million for Johnstone after a series of impressive displays during his loan spell.
The Mail club United have previously rejected bids of up to £2million from other Championship teams for the young keeper.
Johnstone joined Villa on a half-season loan in the January window as initially struggled along with the other new signings as the team limped to a series of defeats.

But the Old Trafford academy graduate has been far improved over the last month, conceding a single goal as Villa have won five of their last six matches.
United may not be willing to let him go just yet and Bruce reportedly remains open to another season on loan for the player at Villa Park.
Bruce replaced Roberto Di Matteo at Villa Park and initially oversaw a revival before a crippling set of results either side of the new year effectively ended the club’s promotion hopes.
Villa have won five of their last six matches to climb to 12th in the Championship table but are 11 points adrift of Sheffield Wednesday, who are sixth and in the final promotion spot.
In other Aston Villa transfer news, talks are to get underway as a proven Premier League performer wants to join the Midlands club.
