Bruno Fernandes and Darwin Nunez react Manuel Ugarte’s plea to Man United fans

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez and Man United captain Bruno Fernandes reacted to a message from Manuel Ugarte on social media.

United faced off against Lyon on Thursday night (10 April), set against the backdrop of a back-and-forth between Nemanja Matic and Andre Onana.

The former Red Devil had called out the Cameroonian shot-stopper for being “one of the worst goalkeepers” in the club’s history.

Unfortunately for United fans, the Serbian midfielder won this battle despite not even appearing against his former side, as Onana made two errors leading to goals in the 2-2 draw.

This wasn’t the only major occurrence that happened between the two sides, with United fans being reportedly tear-gassed by French police after the match.

Manuel Ugarte asks fans to ‘stick together’ after Man United draw

Following the draw between the two fallen giants, Ugarte posted a plethora of images to Instagram from the night’s action, captioned: “We take the battle home. Let’s keep fighting together.”

Liverpool‘s Nunez and Ugarte’s club captain, Fernandes, both responded to the message by liking the post.

United will face off against Newcastle this Sunday (13 April) in the Premier League, before hosting Lyon in the return fixture next Thursday (17 April).

Man United continue to be plagued by striker issues

Football Insider Verdict

Rasmus Hojlund once again struggled for United, after a difficult season underlined by the Danish striker’s inability to consistently, or even somewhat regularly, find the back of the net.

The former Atalanta striker was substituted after an hour, in which the 22-year-old touched the ball a mere 10 times.

Hojlund’s replacement, Joshua Zirkzee managed to get on the scoresheet, but neither forward look likely to be leading the line for the Red Devils next season.

Harry Kane has been linked with Man United, and the Premier League’s second-highest scorer ever will be relatively affordable, thanks to his reported £53million release clause.

However, the Englishman will be 32-years-old this summer and will have little resale value in the future, something important to the club due to their ongoing financial issues.

Matheus Cunha is a player United fans would be keen on, and the Brazilian forward’s agent has reportedly flown to England to have talks with the club.
