Bruno Fernandes and Joshua Zirkzee react to Kobbie Mainoo amid Man United exit whispers
Manchester United duo Bruno Fernandes and Joshua Zirkzee have reacted to team mate Kobbie Mainoo amid uncertainty around the midfielder’s future at Old Trafford.
Mainoo could leave the club this summer as manager Ruben Amorim plans a squad rebuild following one of their worst ever Premier League seasons, which saw them finish 15th in the league.
The 20-year-old made his first team debut for the Red Devils in 2023 and quickly become a starring player under Erik ten Hag.
His performances earned him a place in England’s 2024 Euro squad, but he has only started seven Premier League fixtures since Ruben Amorim was appointed manager in November.

United team mates react to Mainoo post
Mainoo took to social media (6 July) to post pictures of him at Wimbledon and training ahead of the start of pre-season.
Team mates Fernandes and Zirkzee liked the post just days after five players told the club of their desire to leave this summer.
Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia will all report back to pre-season at a later date to finalise moves away.
Mainoo and Zirkzee verdicts need to be delivered
Football Insider verdict
Following the announcement five players are wanting to leave Old Trafford this summer, Amorim can start accelerating his transfer plans.
Amorim will be keen to find suitors quickly to fund new signings as he looks to upgrade his United side all over the pitch.
The future of Mainoo still remains uncertain, as the England international has not been a regular starter under Amorim.

Mainoo will need regular playing time if he is to break into Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad next year, but there has so far been little interest from elsewhere in his services.
Zirkzee is in a similar position, with his future potentially decided by who Amorim is able to sign and if fellow striker Rasmus Hojlund leaves.
Viktor Gyokeres now looks off the table after agreeing personal terms with Arsenal and negotiations at an advanced stage.
Offers for Bryan Mbeumo have also been repelled, so Amorim may need to target other signings if he is to strengthen his forward line.
Matheus Cunha though has been acquired from Wolves and he has goal scoring pedigree in the Premier League after hitting 33 goals in 92 games whilst at Molineux.
