Bruno Fernandes can leave Man United on one condition as little-known release clause revealed
Manchester United could lose Bruno Fernandes in the near future, with details of a release clause now being revealed.
Fernandes rejected a move to Al Hilal during the summer, and since then, the 31-year-old has continued to star in Ruben Amorim’s plans.
The midfielder was imperious during Man United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday, October 19, providing the assist for Harry Maguire’s winner.
But with his contract expiring in June 2027, Fernandes could quit Man United if their performances do not show significant improvement.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on October 23 that Bayern Munich are readying a bid for Fernandes, something that is made easier by a little-known clause in his contract.

Bruno Fernandes has £56m release clause in Man United contract
After rejecting the opportunity to join the Saudi Pro League side during the summer, the Portuguese international showcased his loyalty towards European football.
Man United supporters respected their captain even more for not making a financially motivated decision and will pray he sees his career out at Old Trafford.
"Fernandes knows the rumours about his future won't go away. Sources close to him have previously told BBC Sport he has no wish to move to Saudi Arabia next summer either, with major European clubs outside the Premier League holding more interest. According to BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone, Fernandes has a £56.68million release clause in his United contract that any clubs outside of England to trigger.
But given he’s the heartbeat of Amorim’s system and the one who makes them tick, the Red Devils would only accept such a clause if it is triggered early enough.
However, fans will be pleased to know that Fernandes isn’t interested in addressing his future just yet and wants to achieve his ‘dreams’ in England.
“As I’ve always said, I feel good here. I want to achieve my dreams still,” he said. “I can’t talk for the club. I’ve seen a lot of people talking that I had an agreement to go already next season. If the club has done that agreement, it wasn’t made with me. I haven’t spoken with anyone.
“My agent also knows how I work. If he wants to talk to me, it will be after the World Cup. Until then, I won’t speak to anyone.”
Owen Hargreaves praises Bruno Fernandes
Fernandes is Man United’s most influential player, as he demonstrated with the quality delivery for Maguire’s winner against Liverpool.
Bruno Fernandes 2025/26 Premier League stats
8 appearances
2 goals
1 assist
2.8 key passes per game
2 big chances created
2.3 shots per game
6 balls recovered per game
Amorim has deployed his captain as more of a deep-lying playmaker in 2025/26 instead of as a number 10, and that decision has been scrutinised.

Former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves recently praised Fernandes but also questioned why he’s being used in a deeper role.
“Bruno [Fernandes] is by far their best player by a country mile and then they go sign two players to play his position,” Hargreaves said on TNT Sports.
“So he has to play a defensive midfield player, almost, and it’s like I appreciate you needed more goals because they thought, okay, we get more goals that gets us higher up the table than say a world-class goalkeeper.”
“But you’re arguably the best 10 in the division with Cole Palmer in Bruno and you drop him because you want someone to play through midfield. And then you’ve got [Matheus] Cunha and [Bryan] Mbeumo, why didn’t you just sign a central midfield player and let Bruno did his thing with Cunha?”
