‘Bruno Fernandes could now join Man United’s rivals after his confession’
Bruno Fernandes has confirmed he has rejected the opportunity to leave Man United for Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal.
Speaking while on international duty with Portugal, the 30-year-old said: “I want to play at the highest possible level.
“I want to play major competitions. I know I still can and I want to be happy doing the thing I love the most.”
Fernandes also added that Man United “didn’t need” to sell him and insisted coach Ruben Amorim pushed for him to remain at Old Trafford.
However, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed Fernandes could yet leave United for one of their traditional rivals.
‘Fernandes saga may not be over yet’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness suggested the chapter is not yet closed, hinting that Fernandes could yet move on if one of Europe’s top clubs show an interest.
He is under contract at Old Trafford until June 2027 after joining from Sporting CP in 2020.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think he’s right to stick around, but it was interesting to hear what he said.
“He still wants to play at the highest level in Europe.
“Now, that may mean he has interest from other clubs – because United are not playing at the highest level in Europe.
“Maybe the saga isn’t finished yet. Just because he has rejected the Saudi move, doesn’t mean there isn’t interest from another club.
“Let’s just see if this chapter is really closed.
“I don’t think It’s all plain sailing for Fernandes and United just yet.”

Brentford hope to score major Mbeumo fee
