‘Bruno Fernandes Man United release clause news emerges as Al Hilal offer exit deal’

Bruno Fernandes has now been offered an escape from Man United by Al Hilal amid news on the midfielder’s deal at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese midfielder has been the one constant silver lining for the Red Devils as each season becomes more disappointing than the last.

Despite United sacking Erik ten Hag, then replacing him with Ruben Amorim, results have not improved and the club are staring down the barrel of a 15th-placed finish this year.

That has not stopped Fernandes from being one of the Premier League’s top performers, registering eight goals and nine assists in 33 league games.

However, with Al Hilal having missed out on Mohamed Salah, the Saudi Pro League (SPL) are looking to make another marquee signing and have the 30-year-old in their sights.

But suggestions of there being a release clause that could make a deal easy for the Saudi side appear wide of the mark, according to MailOnline.

Bruno Fernandes release clause rumours incorrect

According to the report, sources at both United and Al Hilal have played down reports in the Middle East of a £60million buyout clause existing in the contract Fernandes signed last year.

The extension tied down the Red Devil’s captain until 2027 with the option of a further year.

There have been talks between Fernandes’ camp and the SPL side in recent weeks, and again on Monday (5 May), with the Middle Eastern club having made what has been described as a “non-binding offer over a three-year contract”.

The 30-year-old has reportedly not yet responded to the proposal, which could amount to somewhere in the region of £80-100million-a-year for the player alone.

However, United sources are said to be “confident” Fernandes will stay to be a “crucial” part of Amorim’s rebuild this summer, and maintain that he is not for sale.

Man United should not accept any deal for Bruno Fernandes

With no release clause in his contract, a fee in the high nine figures is not unfathomable for a player of Fernandes’ quality, as it was with Salah who Al Hilal were ready to direct £130m towards signing.

Season on season, the midfielder has proven himself capable of maintaining world-class performances, no matter who is in charge or what players he has around him.

The midfielder is completely integral to any success United can ever hope to have and is a renowned leader both on and off the pitch.

Which is why the Red Devils cannot, under any circumstances, accept an offer for their captain.

Fernandes is utterly irreplaceable, and as shown in recent transfer windows, when United have a lot of cash to play with, it tends to go poorly.

Instead, they should look to build around their captain with younger options, relying on his leadership as Amorim steadies the ship in Manchester, before making a concerted push to re-establish themselves on, or at least near, the peak of English football once again.
