Bruno Fernandes reacts as Man United transfer confirmed

Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes were among the Manchester United players to react to a club announcement as the transfer window officially opened.

Man United’s disappointing season will want to be forgotten, with the summer rebuild offering Ruben Amorim a chance to restore belief among the fanbase.

Despite growing pressure from Man United supporters calling for Amorim’s sack, the club hierarchy are expected to back him through a pivotal window of change, with wholesale squad alterations anticipated.

Multiple areas of the team are in desperate need of reinforcements, and one name consistently linked with a move to Old Trafford is Matheus Cunha.

Cunha has drawn interest from Arsenal, Liverpool, and Nottingham Forest, but United appeared to be leading the race, despite their underwhelming finish to the season.

Now, it appears both Cunha and United have made their positions clear, with an announcement arriving on the opening day of the transfer window.

Man United confirm Matheus Cunha as first summer signing

Manchester United officially announced on 1 June via Instagram that Cunha has joined the club, with the post reshared by the Brazilian forward himself.

The caption read: “Our first summer signing has been agreed. We look forward to welcoming you, Matheus.”

The post sparked a wave of reactions. Club captain Fernandes welcomed Cunha on his story with a simple, “Welcome” while Tottenham’s Richarlison responded with an applause emoji. Other players such as Mason Mount, Amad Diallo and Leny Yoro also showed their support by liking the post.

Man United triggered the £62.5 million release clause in Cunha’s contract—an option inserted when he signed a new deal with Wolves back in February.

Cunha enjoyed a standout season at Molineux, scoring 15 goals and providing six assists, playing a vital role in helping Wolves avoid relegation.

Despite the warm welcome from Fernandes, there’s a chance the two won’t play together next season.

Football Insider revealed that Man United are open to offers in the region of £80–100 million for Fernandes amid interest from Al-Hilal.

With the Saudi club keen to make Fernandes their marquee signing this summer, a significant bid could be enough to tempt United, particularly as they navigate financial pressures and the need to balance their books.
