Bruno Fernandes reacts to Ruben Amorim announcement from Man United

Man United captain Bruno Fernandes has reacted to an announcement made by the club regarding Ruben Amorim’s performances as manager.

The 30-year-old skipper has been one of the few bright spots in a miserable season for the 20-times Premier League champions.

Fernandes has routinely performed at a top-level for the Red Devils, impressing under both former United boss Erik ten Hag and his successor, Amorim.

Despite a mid-season managerial swap, performances have remained unimpressive, but the recent 1-1 draw with Arsenal saw the team show signs of life.

Ruben Amorim nominated for Premier League award

Following the draw with the Gunners and a convincing 3-0 win away at Leicester, Amorim has been nominated for the Premier League’s manager of the month award.

Whilst the Portuguese manager has faced severe criticism during his time at Old Trafford, United are undefeated in their last seven matches in all competitions, barring a penalty shootout loss to Fulham in the FA Cup.

Celebrating the manager’s achievement, the Red Devils posted a photo of Amorim on Instagram, captioned: “Ruben has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Month award for March”.

The post was then liked by Fernandes, showing support for his under-fire boss.

Prior to his appointment, Amorim was keen to join United at the end of the season, rather than arriving mid-way through the current campaign.

The former Sporting CP boss wanted to spend a full pre-season with his side, accompanied by a few new signings, to properly implement his 3-4-2-1 system.

For a side that has almost religious played in a four-back defensive system, the change was expected to present teething issues initially, but those would be fixable in the off-season.

Instead, the United hierarchy wanted Amorim to join immediately, and so he did, and United have had massive issues lurching to a new tactical system mid-season.

However, the team are beginning to find their feet, Dorgu has been a breath of fresh air since arriving from Lecce in the winter transfer window and the Danish international is comfortable in the new system.

The signs recently have been positive, United were somewhat unlucky not to take all three points against Arsenal.

With the season approaching it’s culmination, Amorim is set to have the pre-season he wanted with his side, before starting next season anew.
