Bruno Fernandes sends message to Man United icon Juan Mata as new footage drops
Man United captain Bruno Fernandes has taken to social media to send a message to former teammate Juan Mata.
The 30-year-old received his second Premier League red card of the campaign in Man United’s recent 2-0 defeat to Wolves, forcing him to miss their subsequent 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Monday (December 30).
United’s defeat to Newcastle saw them fall into 14th, just seven points above the relegation zone at the end of 2024, with new manager Ruben Amorim failing to get his side firing on all cylinders.
The Portugal international remains a key player under Amorim, starting 26 of his 27 games across all competitions, scoring six goals, and providing 10 assists in his 2218 minutes of action.

Fernandes, and Mata, 36, spent two seasons together at Old Trafford before the Spaniard left to join Turkish giants Galatasaray on a free transfer back in 2022.
The diminutive playmaker is now plying his trade with Western Sydney Wanderers FC in Australia, scoring a 23rd-minute equaliser in their recent 3-2 A-League defeat to Macarthur FC.
Fernandes then took to Instagram to share a video of the goal, saying: “The year changes but the magic never disappears.”

The attacking midfielder could be set to make his return from suspension on Sunday (January 5) with his struggling side set to travel to Anfield to face league leaders Liverpool.
United’s tough start to 2025 continues a week later as they travel to Arsenal for their first FA Cup game of the season.
