Bruno Fernandes sends message to Man United ‘kid’ who’s blown him away
Bruno Fernandes was impressed with the performance by one of his young Man United teammates during their FA Cup victory against Arsenal on Sunday (12 January).
The 20-time champions knocked the Gunners out of the competition via a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw after extra time, with United managing to progress into the fourth round.
Ruben Amorim’s team will face Leicester City in the next stage of the competition as they continue to try and defend the title that they won last season.
One young player who was given an opportunity to impress during the fixture was 21-year-old Toby Collyer, who was given 39 minutes during the game.
The defensive midfielder put together a strong performance which included a crucial last-ditch tackle to deny Arsenal a goal.
United club captain Fernandes took to social media to praise Collyer by saying, “Really well-deserved chance kid, keep it going.”

Toby Collyer is looking for more opportunities at Man United
The FA Cup opportunity was the defensive midfielder’s fourth appearance of the season for the first team as he continues to try and break into the squad.
Amorim has evidently been impressed by Collyer in training as the youngster has earned a place on the bench for United’s previous four Premier League fixtures, although he wasn’t used.
Collyer is under contract at Old Trafford until 2027, with the midfielder being someone the club aims to use for the long-term future.

United will be back in action on Thursday (16 January) when they face Southampton in the Premier League.
