Bruno Fernandes sends one-word response as ‘Man United transfer rejected’
Bruno Fernandes shared a message while away on international duty, as speculation around his Manchester United future continues to grow.
The midfielder has been one of Man United’s standout performers in recent years and was instrumental again during the dismal 2024/25 campaign, registering 38 goal contributions across all competitions.
Despite his clear importance to the side, Fernandes has been linked with a potential exit from Man United, with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal keen to make him their marquee summer signing.
Football Insider reported that Man United could be open to selling Fernandes for a fee in the region of £80–£100 million, though the final decision rests with the player himself.
However, on 3 June, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Fernandes had rejected a “crazy” contract offer from the Saudi club, instead choosing to remain and fight at the “top level in Europe.”
Now, the 30-year-old has shared a message via Instagram as talks around his future continue to develop.
Bruno Fernandes celebrates Portugal win over Germany
With domestic football on hold, the international break kicked off in dramatic fashion as Portugal secured a 2-1 victory over Germany on 4 June in the Nations League semi-final.
Despite ongoing speculation, Fernandes started the match for his country, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Francisco Conceicao overturning an early deficit after Florian Wirtz opened the scoring for Germany.
Following the win, Fernandes took to Instagram with a simple message that read: “PORTUGAL” followed by a heart emoji.
The post drew support from several players, including compatriot Pedro Neto, Marcus Rashford, and Manchester United’s newest signing Matheus Cunha.
Portugal will now face either Spain or France, who play on 5 June for a place in the Nations League final.

Man United could sell Kobbie Mainoo after Fernandes transfer twist
After Fernandes turned down a big-money move to Saudi Arabia, United will miss out on a major windfall that could have helped ease financial pressure.
Having failed to qualify for Europe, the club’s finances are under strain, and sales are expected this summer. One potential casualty is Kobbie Mainoo, who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
Former United scout Mick Brown previously told Football Insider that Man United would be open to offers for Mainoo during this window, and now, Fernandes’ decision to stay may now accelerate those plans.
The 20-year-old has seen limited game time under Ruben Amorim, and any sale would count as pure profit on the books, further incentivising United to cash in.
