Bruno Guimaraes: News on Arsenal and Man City activating £100m clause – sources
Arsenal, Man City and Paris Saint-Germain are all set to pass up the opportunity to sign Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes, sources have told Football Insider.
All three clubs hold a strong interest in the midfield star, who is available via a £100million release clause this summer.
The deal must be struck before 30 June, with interested clubs now facing a race against time to move for Guimaraes.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the three European giants are unlikely to be in a position to green-light the deal in that time frame.
As such, it is believed Newcastle are planning for the 2024-25 campaign with Guimaraes as a part of Eddie Howe’s side.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (28 May) that missing out on Conference League football is unlikely to have a bearing on Guimaraes’ future at St James’ Park.
Arsenal, Man City and PSG set to pass on Guimaraes deal
Sources say the former Lyon star is settled on Tyneside and is happy with the club’s progress – and will not push for a move away after the clause expires.
Arsenal, Man City and PSG could now be forced to pursue alternative targets as they look to bolster their midfield options this summer.
Guimaraes played 50 times across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, starting in 48 of those outings – and notching seven goals and 10 assists.

The Brazil international will have the opportunity to shine on the international stage at this summer’s Copa America in the United States.
He penned a fresh Newcastle contract in October 2023, keeping him at the club until June 2028.
In other news, nine players set to leave St James’ Park this summer.
