Bruno Guimaraes: Pundit suggests ‘huge’ Newcastle bid incoming
Newcastle United will be tested with bids for star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes once the transfer window reopens next month.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa and Tottenham defender Alan Hutton admitted finances will dictate whether the Magpies can keep hold of the Brazilian international.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month Newcastle chiefs are “very confident” the midfielder will remain at St James’ Park this summer after internal talks have taken place.
Eddie Howe revealed last month Guimaraes has a £100million release clause that will expire in the final days of June, meaning it will take a significant bid for him to leave Tyneside in the coming weeks.
The 26-year-old was seen waving to the Magpies fans after their 4-2 victory over Brentford on the final day of the campaign, fueling the speculation around whether he will be at the club next season.
Newcastle could sell Bruno Guimaraes if finances dictate
Hutton believes Newcastle must keep hold of players like Guimaraes if they want to continue progressing forward as a club.
“They might be tested with a huge bid for him,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s an outstanding footballer, just like Isak and different members of that squad.
“I just think Eddie Howe and the fans will be desperate for him to stay. He’s a top player within that team.
“They finished in the Champions League last season and they can see that progression. It’s a huge football club with a massive support and he probably feels that love from them.

“He will want to stay, but ultimately, the financial aspect will dictate.
“If an opportunity comes in where Newcastle see it viable and they can go and reinvest, then they might look at that even though the fans won’t like me saying it.
“Ultimately, they want to progress as a football team and to do that you need to keep your top players.”
