Bruno Guimaraes’ stance on signing Newcastle contract revealed
Bruno Guimaraes has once again been the subject of plenty of speculation surrounding his long-term future at Newcastle United.
Football Insider revealed on 27 September that Newcastle rebuffed Man City’s approach for Guimaraes during the summer after they made informal contact over a move.
Pep Guardiola is known to be a big fan of the midfielder and has made multiple attempts to lure him away from Eddie Howe‘s side over the last two seasons.
Despite the arrivals of Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki to bolster City’s midfield in the summer, their interest in the Brazil international has lingered.
However, the Magpies have no intentions of letting him go regardless of the long-standing interest.

Bruno Guimaraes happy to stay at Newcastle
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Guimaraes is happy at Newcastle and has no plans to push for a move away.
With the Magpies competing in the Champions League and hoping for another strong season domestically, he has not had his head turned by City’s interest.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “It was an inquiry from Man City in the summer rather than anything firm or official on bids or talks or anything like that.
“Guimaraes indicated that he was happy at Newcastle and Newcastle were definitely not interested in selling him and that remains the plan right now as well.
“There’ll be discussions potentially to be held over a new contract to see if they can keep him on Tyneside.

“As I said, Guimaraes seems like he’s happy at Newcastle. We know that Newcastle are very happy with him.
“If they’re competing in the Champions League, I don’t see any reason why Guimaraes would push for a move away.”
The midfielder’s loyalty at St James’ Park has never been questioned, and with the prospect of a new deal on the horizon, he has another chance to prove that.
Newcastle plan to offer Guimaraes a new contract
Football Insider revealed on 28 September that Newcastle plan to hand Guimaraes a new contract as a reward for his ongoing loyalty and impressive performances.
As a result of the Alexander Isak to Liverpool transfer saga dominating their summer plans, the Magpies are now determined to avoid a similar situation.
When Isak dropped his Instagram bombshell about leaving Newcastle on the evening of the PFA awards ceremony, Bruno was celebrated for his response to Isak.

This comes after Football Insider first revealed in April that Newcastle are well-placed to keep Guimaraes despite the interest ahead of the summer window.
As a result, any fears that the Magpies could lose their two best players within a year of each other have been dashed, with the midfielder looking set to remain.
