Bruno Guimaraes, Tino Livramento: Ross Wilson makes Newcastle transfer plan

Newcastle United have endured a mixed start to the season so far but are aiming to push in the right direction after their recent turn of form.

Eddie Howe’s side beat Fulham 2-1 at St James’ Park on 25 October, moving them up to 11th in the Premier League after bouncing back from last week’s defeat to Brighton.

The Magpies looked set for more frustration against Fulham, before Bruno Guimaraes‘ 90th-minute strike won all three points for the hosts.

Newcastle will now be aiming to build on that result and put together a strong run of form, as they aim to achieve their ambitious goals alongside their Champions League form.

Those ambitions are not only one the pitch, however, as efforts are being made behind the scenes to ease concerns about the recent chaos of Alexander Isak‘s exit.

Ross Wilson leading contract talks with Bruno Guimaraes

Football Insider revealed on 24 October that Newcastle plan to hold contract talks with Guimaraes in the near future to extend his stay at St James’ Park.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, new sporting director Ross Wilson is putting plans in place to discuss terms with a number of the Magpies key players in a bid to deter transfer interest in them.

Howe and the Newcastle hierarchy are determined to keep hold of their best players and are now set to ramp up their efforts to do so.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Yeah, I think it would be ideal for Newcastle if they could tie down Bruno to a new deal.

“I think there’ll be a willingness probably from all parties to sit down and discuss a new deal.

“It does seem that the new sporting director Ross Wilson is setting out, looking to discuss potential new deals with a number of their star players.

“He wants to end any speculation over their futures and to avoid any sort of similar situation that they have with Alexander Isak.

“So yeah, I’m sure at some point in the near future, will be talks held with Bruno and his people to see if they can agree a new deal.”

Newcastle are now lining up contract talks with a number of key players to extend their spells at St James’ Park and keep Howe’s squad as strong as possible.

Tino Livramento lined up for Newcastle contract talks

With Guimaraes in line for a new deal, and Howe’s recent reveal that Sandro Tonali extended his stay at Newcastle, there is also a focus on Tino Livramento’s future.

Football Insider revealed last month that Newcastle are doing everything to keep Livramento at the club despite interest from top clubs across Europe.

Man City have been long-term admirers of the England international and were heavily linked with a move for him during the summer, although nothing materialised.

As a result, Football Insider revealed on 14 September that Newcastle plan to offer Livramento a new contract to extend his stay in the North East.

Following that news, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Livramento is happy at Newcastle and open to signing a fresh deal.
