Bruno Guimaraes to Man City? Newcastle make decision on January move
Newcastle United will not entertain offers for Man City target Bruno Guimaraes in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
City and manager Pep Guardiola are huge admirers of the 27-year-old, who was widely linked with the English champions in the summer.
Sources say multiple other clubs in England and across Europe are keen on Guimaraes.
Man City are prioritising the signing of a central midfielder in the January window following an injury to Rodri in the early stages of the 2024-25 campaign.
However, Football Insider revealed last month (22 November) that Guimaraes’ £100million release clause has been removed from his contract.
In any case, Newcastle are extremely reluctant to let their star man leave – especially mid-way through the season – and are expected to rebuff any advances.
His contract at St James’ Park is set to run until June 2028 after the Brazil international signed an extension last year (2023).
Newcastle won’t accept Guimaraes offer from Man City despite PSR concerns
Eddie Howe has made no secret of Newcastle’s concerns about complying with Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
It is believed they could be forced to sell one of their top stars in the near future if they are to continue reinvesting in the playing squad under the current regulations.

Guimaraes, who has worn the armband for Newcastle this term, has notched one goal and three assists in 19 appearances this term.
He is now a regular for Brazil and has made 126 appearances for the Magpies after almost three years in England.
