‘Brutally honest’ Liverpool verdict delivered as Klopp stance on window revealed

Kevin Campbell is adamant Liverpool can compete with Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea despite their lack of activity in the transfer market.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker claimed the Reds “have cover all over the pitch” and would have strengthened “if the right player was available”.

The only addition to Liverpool’s squad this summer was Ibrahima Konate.

According to The Athletic‘s James Pearce (September 1st), Jurgen Klopp is “bullish about the array of talent at his disposal”.

The 54-year-old’s belief in his squad is said to be “unwavering” despite City, Chelsea and United all investing at least £100million in their squads.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Liverpool could truly compete for the title with their current squad, Campbell said:

“That squad has proven they can compete with Man City, Chelsea and Man United. Liverpool can and will compete.

“They have had a strong squad for the last four or five years really. Bit and pieces have been added here and there and they got Konate this summer.

“You still have the likes of the Ox and Keita there. They are quality players waiting in the wings.

“Klopp is smart. If the right player was available, they would have gone for him. They have proven that in the past.

“Let’s be honest, they have cover all over the pitch. The only position you could argue they are light is up top but this team is about scoring goals by committee.

“Yes, Mo Salah carried that burden last season but I expect Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota to reach double figures this year.”
