‘Bryan Mbeumo deserves better than Man United move – I’m surprised’
Bryan Mbeumo is expected to join Man United this summer as Ruben Amorim continues to rebuild his squad.
The winger had been linked with both Tottenham and Newcastle, but Football Insider exclusively revealed last week (6 June) that it is likely that United and Brentford will come to an agreement.
Sources say Mbeumo wants to move to Old Trafford and personal terms have already been agreed, while there is an expectation that the two clubs will eventually compromise on price.
Last season, the 25-year-old scored 20 Premier League goals for Brentford – also adding seven assists.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – doesn’t believe that a move to Man United is representative of Mbeumo’s ability.

‘Mbeumo deserved European outings’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness revealed that he was “surprised” that Mbeumo was making the switch to Old Trafford as United can’t offer European football next season.
Amorim’s side finished a lowly 15th in the Premier League, as well as being beaten by Tottenham in the Europa League final.
Wyness claimed that the Portuguese manager can have “zero excuses” next season, due to the fact he is being heavily backed in the transfer market.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I’m surprised that he’s going to go there because I thought he deserved at least the European outings as well, because I think he’s a talent.
“You’ve got to look at the balance that Amorim’s trying to get, he’s certainly the quality of player that Amorim likes to use going forward.
“We’re getting to the stage soon when Amorim puts together this squad, he will have zero excuses for next season because he’s getting quality players in at the moment.”

Elanga and Semenyo to Newcastle update
Meanwhile, Newcastle remain interested in Anthony Elanga or Antoine Semenyo in a bid to get their target position filled.
West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus is another name on their list of targets to fix their issues at the right-wing position
The Magpies were primarily interested in Mbeumo, but with the Brentford star expected to move to United, they have had to look elsewhere.
