Bryan Mbeumo reacts to Leny Yoro’s ‘reunited’ message as Man United move nears

Bryan Mbeumo has responded to Man United defender Leny Yoro as his move from Brentford to the Red Devils edges ever closer to completion.

Mbeumo’s standout form saw him register 20 goals and eight assists in 38 Premier League appearances last season for Brentford.

His impressive performances have fuelled rumours around his potential Bees exit this summer, with Football Insider revealing in May that Arsenal, Newcastle and United were all keen to sign Mbeumo, while Spurs have also been mooted with interest in the Brentford star after Thomas Frank’s move to North London.

Former United chief scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that Mbeumo is pushing to move to Old Trafford and has made his desire to leave Brentford known, and he also revealed to Football Insider on 1 July that United are close to reaching an agreement with the Bees to sign Mbeumo despite seeing two initial bids for his services rejected.

Leny Yoro issues Man United return message

While a deal to take Mbeumo has dragged on, Fabrizio Romano calmed United supporters’ nerves with an update on 7 July that revealed that the Red Devils’ “absolute focus” remains on signing the 25-year-old, with “club to club talks set to continue this week.”

He has now moved to heighten rumours of an imminent switch by leaving a like on United defender Leny Yoro’s new Instagram post on Friday (11 July), as the 19-year-old took to the site to post numerous pictures of him back in training at United’s Carrington facility alongside a witty caption that read: “ReUnited” with a red heart emoji.

As well as Mbeumo, Yoro’s message was liked by Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Kobbie Mainoo, William Saliba and Amad Diallo, while United star Bruno Fernandes commented: “Incroyable,” which translates to “Incredible” in English.

Mbeumo would be a stellar signing for United

Football Insider verdict

Mbeumo looks set to be on his way to Old Trafford soon, and despite so many recent transfer failures, it does finally feel like they are on the right track in looking to capture the Cameroonian international.

The pacey forward has built a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most prolific scorers over the last few years, even though he had never played in the top-flight prior to the Bees’ promotion from the Championship in 2021.

Mbeumo’s Brentford career statistics

It took a bit of time for him to adjust to the league’s demands in his first campaign, but he then netted nine goals in both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, and recently enjoyed his best term yet with standout contributions which placed him third in the Premier League charts for combined goals and assists in 2024/25.

It is clear that he is a player coming into his prime, and the link-up that him and recent United signing Matheus Cunha could provide would surely serve as one of the deadliest front lines in the whole league, so it is imperative that United get a deal done for the 25-year-old as soon as possible.
