Bryan Mbeumo responds as Brentford transfer is confirmed

Bryan Mbeumo was among the players to react as Brentford confirmed their latest summer signing.

It’s been a summer of major change for the Bees following the departure of head coach Thomas Frank, who left to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

Brentford opted to promote from within, appointing set-piece coach Keith Andrews as the club’s new manager in a bid to maintain stability after years of progress under Frank.

However, their recent success has attracted significant interest in key players. Football Insider revealed that Manchester United are closing in on a deal for Mbeumo, while Arsenal are believed to be finalising a transfer for Brentford captain Christian Norgaard.

The west London club face the realistic prospect of losing their head coach, top scorer, and captain all in one summer, yet the hierarchy have already begun reshaping the squad.

Brentford confirm £16million deal for Antoni Milambo from Feyenoord

Brentford confirmed on 3 July that they have completed the signing of Antoni Milambo from Feyenoord in a deal worth £16million.

The club shared a welcome video for the Dutch midfielder on their official social media channels, accompanied by the caption: “Welkom Antoni” which earned likes from Mbeumo and his strike partner Yoane Wissa.

The Netherlands Under-21 international has signed a five-year contract with the option of a further year and becomes the first arrival under new head coach Andrews.

The 20-year-old made a big impression at Feyenoord, establishing himself as a key player with seven goals and eight assists from midfield last season.

Milambo is the second summer signing following Brentford signing Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool earlier last month, brought in to replace the departing Mark Flekken.

Man United edge closer to Mbeumo transfer despite Tottenham interest

With former Brentford boss Frank now in charge at Tottenham, there had been concern that Spurs could try to hijack Man United’s pursuit of Mbeumo.

However, the Cameroon international is believed to be set on joining United, turning down the chance to reunite with Frank in North London.

Brentford rejected an initial bid from United, with the club determined to keep hold of their top scorer if a suitable offer cannot be agreed.

Mbeumo netted 20 Premier League goals last season, stepping up as Brentford’s talisman following Ivan Toney’s departure.

But despite the club’s stance, a move to Old Trafford is expected to go ahead if the two clubs can settle on a fee, with the player keen on the switch.
