Bryan Mbeumo responds as official Premier League account hails two Man United players

Manchester United’s new-look attack is starting to take shape after the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

Ruben Amorim’s overhaul at Old Trafford has been slower than expected so far, with Marcus Rashford the only first-team player to depart this summer after he was deemed surplus to requirement by Amorim.

Rashford and four other Man United players were ostracised from training by Amorim after all parties agreed that it was time to leave the club, but both incomings and outgoings have been hard to come by.

Cunha’s arrival in a £62.5million move from Wolves stood alone for some time as United and Brentford struggled to agree a deal for Mbeumo, but the latter’s £71million move eventually gave Amorim the two headline signings he wanted.

Cunha and Mbeumo link-up ‘loading’ at Man United

With Jadon Sancho, Antony and Marcus Rashford all loaned out last season and Alejandro Garnacho falling out of favour, Amorim has had a dearth of attacking options to choose from at Old Trafford.

Mbeumo and Cunha will help to address this with the aforementioned quartet all in line to leave United this summer, but they’re yet to get onto the pitch together after Mbeumo’s switch from Brentford.

Cunha started up front alongside Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes in Man United‘s 2-1 friendly win over West Ham on Saturday, as the Premier League’s Instagram account teased his link-up with Mbeumo.

The Premier League’s post pictured Mbeumo and Cunha in training with the caption of; “Link-up: loading…”, and Mbeumo shared this to his Instagram story to tag Cunha with a pair of ‘fist bump’ emojis.

Man United make winning start to USA tour

Red Devils fans may be made to wait for Mbeumo’s debut for the club, but Cunha continued in a starting role after his debut against Leeds the weekend prior as Man United edged West Ham in East Rutherford.

The Brazilian failed to get on the scoresheet as Fernandes stole the show with a brace, benfitting from some “shocking” Alphonse Areola goalkeeping to score both a penalty and an early second-half winner.

Mbeumo and Cunha are expected to make up two thirds of Amorim’s front three in his 3-4-2-1 setup at Old Trafford, but it remains to be seen if one will have to make room for the supreme attacking influence of Fernandes next season.
