Bryan Mbeumo shines, 5/10 has no impact – Man United player ratings vs Tottenham
Manchester United extended their winning streak under Michael Carrick to four games with a 2-0 win over Tottenham at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Both teams had chances in the early stages, but Man United were handed a man advantage in the 29th minute as Cristian Romero was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Casemiro.
They instantly made Spurs pay as a neatly worked corner found Bryan Mbeumo on the edge of the box for him to sweep the ball past an outstretched Guglielmo Vicario.
Amad thought he had doubled United’s lead just after the break, but he was deemed to be offside from Luke Shaw’s cross after tapping home from close range.
The Red Devils made sure of the three points nine minutes from time as Bruno Fernandes continued his superb recent form with a poke past Vicario from Diogo Dalot’s cross, and it ended 2-0.

Bryan Mbeumo – Man of the match
Tottenham fumbled the chance to sign Mbeumo last summer as a potential reunion with Thomas Frank was touted, and he made them pay once more here.
The 26-year-old, who scored the opener in the reverse fixture in November, was at his best throughout the match at the centre of everything positive from a United point of view.
His goal was taken superbly well after a neat assist from Kobbie Mainoo, while he was the one who raced forward and got the hosts on the front foot before Dalot crossed for Fernandes to score.
Mbeumo earns a nine out of 10 rating for his man-of-the-match performance at Old Trafford.
Amad struggled to make an impact
Amad’s recent return from AFCON duty with the Ivory Coast was a huge boost to Carrick in their wins against Man City, Arsenal and Fulham, but not as much so against Tottenham on Saturday.
The tricky winger was heavily involved in United’s attacking play throughout, but most of what he tried to do did not come off, and his passing was sloppy compared to the slick link-up between Mbeumo and Cunha.

He was rightly booked for hacking down Xavi Simons just before half-time, and also strayed offside when he thought he had put the hosts two up just after the break.
Amad ended the match with two successful dribbles from six attempts, no accurate crosses from two attempts, and six duels won from 11, so he earns a five out of 10 rating.
