‘Bryan Mbeumo to Man United stance made clear amid Tottenham threat’

Manchester United’s transfer stance regarding Bryan Mbeumo has been made clear amid speculation around the forward’s future at Brentford.

Mbeumo enjoyed a stellar season in West London scoring 20 Premier League goals as Brentford finished 10th in the table.

The 25-year-old has therefore attracted plenty of attention in the transfer market for his performances as he looks set to make the next step in his career after five seasons with the Bees.

Man United and Tottenham are both interested in the Cameroon international, but his stance has been made clear for any potential buyers.

Spurs entered the race to sign the forward after the North London club named former Brentford boss Thomas Frank as their new manager following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.

United remain confident they will sign Mbeumo

Despite strong interest from Frank and Spurs, Man United remain confident of Mbeumo becoming a Red Devil for next season.

According to BBC Sports’ Simon Stone (16 June) United are not concerned about the transfer of Mbeumo falling through.

Stone said: There are a lot of rumours and counter rumours but I am not getting the impression Manchester United are concerned about their attempt to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford falling through.”

Mbeumo did not wish to talk about his future when Sky Sports interviewed him at the F1 in Montreal (15 June), and any transfer is unlikely to be completed soon as the player looks to enjoy his post-season break.

He did wish Frank good luck at Spurs, but went no further in saying whether he would join him in North London.

Amorim actively looking to bolster Man United’s attack

Football Insider Verdict

Amorim has already secured Wolves forward Matheus Cunha for next season, and it sounds like he is confident Mbeumo will be linking up with the Brazilian at Old Trafford.

With Bruno Fernandes set to stay after rejecting a bid from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, United are beginning to build a threatening front line.

If Amorim can add Viktor Gyokeres to this attack, and fend off competition from rivals Arsenal in the process, United will surely be a stronger force to be reckoned with next season.

The pressure would then be on Amorim to perform after he experienced a difficult first season in English football.

Frank though will hope his relationship with Mbeumo from Brentford can convince the forward to stay in London rather than move to the North West.

Spurs also have the benefit of playing in the Champions League next season and that could potentially be a key factor in deciding where Mbeumo plays next season.
