BT Sport pundit shoots down claims that Tottenham star is world class

BT Sport pundit and former manager Dean Saunders has shot down claims that Tottenham star Dele Alli is world class.
The 20-year-old England star has been in fine form for Spurs this season with a stunning return of 19 goals and 10 assists in 42 appearances from his outfield position.
His quality is undoubted and it is just a question of how good he is now and after his goal against Watford on Saturday Chris Sutton hailed him as world class.
But, Saunders would seemingly disagree with his colleague’s view and he reasoned that Alli doesn’t influence the biggest games enough and isn’t the best in the world in his position.
“Dele Alli? No,” started Saunders bluntly speaking on BT Sport when asked if Alli was world class.

“To be world class you have got to influence the biggest games in the world and I think in your position and what you’re good at, you’ve got to be the best. Like (N’Golo) Kante. He doesn’t score goals, but in his position that job he does, there’s nobody better than him in the world.”

Alli joined Tottenham in the 2015 winter window from League One side MK Dons for just £5million.
He was considered a player with high potential two years a go, but he has far exceeded expectations and more than paid back the initial fee.
With five years now left on his contract in north London fans will be hoping to see Alli shine in their team for years to come.
In other Tottenham news, John Hartson has hailed this Spurs attacker as top class.
