Buendia is buckling at Aston Villa after Neville comments - pundit

Emi Buendia needs time at Aston Villa to adjust to a “different dynamic” at the club, according to Kevin Campbell.

The former Arsenal hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, hinted the 24-year-old is struggling with the “expectation” at Villa Park.

Speaking on Sky Sports after Aston Villa’s 3-1 loss against Arsenal last Friday (via Birmingham Live), Gary Neville insisted Buendia is “not working” in Dean Smith’s current system.

He suggested the Claret and Blues should be “going back to something a little bit more basic, like what they were doing last season.”

Aston Villa are 13th in the top flight and have lost each of their last three league clashes.

Campbell claimed the Argentina international needs to be given time to “settle” with the Midlands club.

“He was good for Norwich, but everything worked through him,” he told Football Insider.

“When you get into a different club it’s a different dynamic, and you’ve got to let him settle.

“Nowadays, people don’t let anyone settle – there’s an expectation for every new signing to come in and hit the ground running.

“They need to let him find his feet.

“He’s come into a bigger club, there’s more expectation on his shoulders, more onus on him with the price tag.

“It can take time for a player to make it work.”

Buendia signed for Aston Villa in the summer window for a reported club-record potential fee of £38million.

He has scored once in seven league games.
