Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice react to Gabriel Martinelli after Arsenal exit news

Gabriel Martinelli gained the attention of his Arsenal teammates on social media as speculation grows over the winger’s future in North London.

The 23-year-old has experienced a mixed campaign in a standout season for the Gunners, notching 10 goals and five assists in 50 appearances across all competitions, though many as a substitute.

Now, Mick Brown tells Football Insider that Arsenal plan to accept an offer for Martinelli as Mikel Arteta prepares for an overhaul of his attacking options this summer.

Saudi Pro League sides are said to be keeping an eye on the pacey Brazilian, and Football Insider understands that Arsenal have set their sights on a suitable replacement already.

Taking to Instagram (20 May), Martinelli posted a series of images, two of them with club icon Ian Wright, captioned simply by a house emoji, clearly content at the Emirates Stadium.

Gabriel Magalhaes, Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Merino, Bukayo Saka, and Declan Rice were joined by Nottingham Forest’s Murillo and Bournemouth’s Evanilson in liking the post.

Football Insider verdict

Arteta has been a victim of his own mistakes this season, with the Gunners never signing an out-and-out striker in either of the last two transfer windows to improve upon Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.

With those two forwards sidelined for the second half of the season, the manager was forced to turn Merino into a makeshift striker, and while his 14 goal contributions were a boost, it was not enough.

The Gunners missed out on reaching the Champions League final, missing several chances against PSG that a natural striker would have latched onto, and the Premier League title was well out of sight weeks ago.

Football Insider understands that Arsenal have been given the green light to sign Viktor Gyokeres by Sporting CP, and that deal would be an incredible move ahead of next season.

Arteta would surely solve the final piece of the puzzle at the Emirates Stadium with Gyokeres, and if Martinelli needs to be sold for extra funds, it is a no-brainer decision for the Gunners.
