Bukayo Saka close to agreeing £73m deal as he’s catapulted up Premier League top earners list
Bukayo Saka could be about to join the Premier League elite by signing a new Arsenal contract that puts him among the top earners in the division.
Bukayo Saka has been one of Arsenal‘s top performers over the last few years, and he is now regarded as one of the best attackers in the Premier League and across world football.
The 24-year-old notched double figures for league goals in three consecutive seasons between 2021 and 2024, and he last extended his Gunners deal in May 2023 off the back of being named in the PFA’s 2022-23 Premier League Team of the Year.
He was tied down at the Emirates Stadium until 2027 with that contract, but now the club want to offer him fresh terms that even better reflect his current status in football as one of the top forwards in the world.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (30 September), that Arsenal are confident of agreeing a new deal with Saka, and details have now emerged over how much he could be set to earn in North London after he signs.

Saka to join top 10 of Premier League earners with new Arsenal deal
According to a new report from talkSPORT (30 September), Saka’s new deal is expected to be at least on a par with teammate Kai Havertz, who takes home around £280,000-a-week.
Contract negotiations between sporting director Andrea Berta and Saka’s camp are set to ramp up after William Saliba signed his new five-year deal, and the England winger will be among the top earners in the top-flight if he pens fresh terms soon.
According to Capology‘s estimates, Saka would become the joint-ninth highest earner in the Premier League if he earned around £280,000 each week with the North London club.
A five-year deal would be worth £72.8million in total, plus whatever bonuses and other add-ons were included.
Player | Estimated/potential weekly earnings |
Erling Haaland | £525,000 |
Mo Salah | £400,000 |
Virgil van Dijk | £350,000 |
Casemiro | £350,000 |
Raheem Sterling | £325,000 |
Bernardo Silva | £300,000 |
Bruno Fernandes | £300,000 |
Omar Marmoush | £295,000 |
Bukayo Saka | £280,000 |
They state that Erling Haaland earns the most in the top-flight, on around £525,000, while Mo Salah is believed to be on around £400,000 each week and Virgil van Dijk and Casemiro are on estimated weekly wages of £350,000.
Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Omar Marmoush would all seemingly be earning more than Saka, but if he earns around £280,000 each week, he would be on par with Havertz and new Liverpool signing Alexander Isak, according to Capology.
What Mikel Arteta has said about Saka’s potential new contract
It is no surprise to see Arsenal chiefs so willing to offer him a new deal, especially after recent reports stated that Saka’s contract situation is a “major issue” that those at the club have wanted to sort out after the summer window ended.
Mikel Arteta has been understandably keen to see it happen too, as he recent expressed his thoughts on the situation by saying: “I would love that [Saka signing a new deal]. From everything that I know, again, he’s a player that is extremely happy and proud to be and to have the role that he has in the football club.
“Things will develop in a natural way, like they always do, and everyone knows how important Bukayo is for us, so hopefully we can do it.”

It certainly looks as if Saka himself wants to extend his time at his boyhood club, after he was asked about signing a new deal back in April and said: “I want to win and I want to win wearing this badge, so I think it’s pretty clear.”
It makes complete sense for him to be one of the club’s highest paid players, considering his impact on their fortunes over the last few years, but he will need to start firing them to silverware soon if he is to fully justify his earnings.
