Bukayo Saka sends ‘come back’ message to Arsenal fans after devastating blow
Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka has taken to social media to let fans know he’s “coming back stronger” after undergoing surgery on his injured hamstring.
The 23-year-old was forced off after just 24 minutes in Arsenal’s 5-1 Premier League dismantling of Crystal Palace, limping off the pitch to be replaced by Leandro Trossard.
Speaking in his post-match press conference following Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Ipswich in their next fixture, Mikel Arteta confirmed that Saka had undergone surgery and will be out for “months.”
Arteta said: “He had a procedure. Everything went well, but unfortunately, he will be out for many, many weeks. I said many weeks, so I think it will be more than two months. I don’t know exactly how much longer.
“It will depend on how the scar tissue starts to heal, the first week or so, the mobility of that. Let’s see, it’s very difficult to say.”
Bukayo Saka will be a big miss for Arsenal as Premier League title race heats up
Saka has been Arsenal’s most productive attacking outlet so far this season, starting 22 of his 24 games across all competitions, scoring nine goals, and providing 13 assists in his 1828 minutes of action.
The England international has 15 goal contributions in the Premier League alone, six more than Kai Havertz who has the second most with nine.
Arsenal’s win over Ipswich saw them go above London rivals Chelsea into second before falling back down to third following Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 win over Everton.
Saka took to Instagram to share an image of himself post-surgery, looking on the bright side, he said: “The majority see obstacles, but few see the opportunities. Recovery has begun and I’m coming back stronger! Thank you all for your messages.”

The fans will be there for the club in the new year even if Saka can’t be as they prepare for a trip across London to face Brentford on New Year’s Day (January 1).
Saka is set to miss some crucial games for Arsenal, including the North London Derby against arch-rivals Tottenham midway through January.
