EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke
Everton central midfielder Joe Williams is ready to quit the club after being the subject of multiple offers from clubs in England and Germany, Football Insider understands.
Teams in the Bundesliga and Championship have bid in excess of £1million for the 22-year-old as they look to prise him from Goodison Park with a year remaining on his contract.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that Williams is veering towards exiting the club he first joined as a seven-year-old.
He has failed to make a first-team breakthrough at the club and spent last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers, who were relegated from the Championship amid severe financial difficulties.
Williams attracted strong interest last summer from the likes of Bristol City, Birmingham City and Hull City, and clubs in the second tier remain keen on signing him permanently.
They face competition for his signature from Germany, where the top-tier clubs have been closely scouting England’s top young talents as they look for players who can follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho.
Everton are unlikely to stand in Williams’ way if he pushes to quit as he has entered the final year of a contract that expires next June.
He is unlikely to get first-team opportunities next season with the likes of new signing Andre Gomes, Idrissa Gueye, Morgan Schneiderlin and Tom Davies competing for central midfield slots.
In other Everton news, it can be REVEALED that a senior wide man at the club has agreed personal terms with a new club.
