Burnley ‘delighted’ by size of Vincent Kompany payout – Kieran Maguire
Burnley will be “delighted” at the £10.2million compensation fee they received for Vincent Kompany’s exit.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the payment will help to cover the debt at Turf Moor following their takeover.
Following their relegation from the Premier League, Kompany has left Burnley and has been appointed as the new manager at Bayern Munich.
As per Ben Jacobs on Twitter, Bayern paid £10.2million (€12m) in compensation fees to release Kompany from his contract.
The former Manchester City captain led Burnley to the Championship title during his first season as manager, but was unable to keep them in the Premier League in 2023-24.
Burnley to cover debt with £10m+ Kompany payout
Maguire believes Burnley will be “delighted” at the compensation fees as they may not have too much interest in their playing squad over the summer transfer window.
“I expect that Burnley will be absolutely delighted with that fee,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“It seems as though they had Vincent Kompany on a contract which looked after Burnley’s interests as much as anything else.
“That is exactly what a contract is there for.

“Given that there might be limited interest in their squad, the money from Kompany’s exit will be a welcome bonus after their relegation.
“Given that they were acquired by a leverage by ALK that will help to manage the debt at the club.“
