Burnley increase turnover by £68m
Burnley increased their revenue by more than £68million last season despite being relegated to the Championship, sources have told Football Insider.
The Clarets published their latest accounts for 2023-24 on Wednesday (30 April), revealing their turnover surged from £64.9million in 2022-23 to £133.6million.
Despite their revenue improving by £68.7million across the period, it was still lower than their record turnover of £139million in 2017-18.
The latest increase was largely down to the Lancashire side’s promotion to the Premier League, with their broadcast revenue increasing from £47.8million to £110.6million.
Burnley’s commercial income rose from £8.4million to £14.1million, while their matchday revenue at Turf Moor improved slightly from £8.7million to £8.9million.
However, the club recorded a £28.5million pre-tax loss after finishing second-bottom in the Premier League last season under former manager Vincent Kompany.
The Clarets’ wage bill increased considerably from £53.6million to £93.4million, having spent £73million on 18 new signings across the campaign.

Newcastle United ready move to sign Burnley star
Burnley have bounced back from their relegation to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
Scott Parker’s side are on course to reach 100 points for the campaign, but they are behind table-topping Leeds United on goal difference heading into the final game of the season.
The Clarets have seen 13 players leave Turf Moor this season, while 21 new faces have come through the door to help them earn promotion.
James Trafford has been linked with several Premier League clubs following his sensational form this season, having kept 29 clean sheets and conceded just 15 goals in 44 appearances.
Football Insider revealed on 10 April Newcastle United are readying a move to sign Trafford as they are in the market for a new goalkeeper despite Nick Pope’s strong recent form.

Tottenham make surprise Scott Parker decision
Parker has also received plenty of plaudits since arriving at Turf Moor last summer, with his side suffering just two league defeats all season.
Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider Parker has emerged as a surprise name on Spurs’ list to replace Ange Postecoglou.
The Burnley boss previously spent two years as a player at Tottenham, while Postecoglou is expected to lose his job even if his side win the Europa League this season.
