Burnley, Middlesbrough and Derby County make Adama Sidibeh approaches – sources

Burnley, Middlesbrough and Derby County are among a number of clubs plotting bids for St Johnstone striker Adama Sidibeh, sources have told Football Insider.

Sidibeh, 25, is currently at the centre of a tug-of-war between The Gambia and Senegal, with both countries keen for him to pledge his international allegiance.

The St Johnstone forward has also attracted interest from French side FC Metz, after EFL trio Burnley, Middlesbrough and Derby County registered their interest in signing him.

After moving to the Scottish Premiership from non-league side Rylands in the January transfer window, Sidibeh proved to be a sensation, scoring five goals in 15 games.

His goals helped the Saints to secure survival in the SPFL, while attracting watching eyes from England and across Europe.

Adama Sidibeh attracts interest from Burnley, Middlesbrough and Derby

Sidibeh had previously plied his trade in the English non-league, with his move to Scotland proving a coup for the Saints as they brought in the firepower needed to steer them clear of relegation.

Three of the striker’s five goals came in the final three games of the season, including what proved to be the winning goal in a 2-1 victory against Motherwell to keep them up on the final day.

As a result of his heroics, Championship clubs Burnley, Middlesbrough and Derby are all weighing up bids for the striker to bolster their ranks.

The three teams suffered different fates this season, with Burnley relegated from the Premier League and Derby promoted from League One, while Boro narrowly missed out on the playoffs.

However, they will face one another next season, and the arrival of Sidibeh is seen as crucial to their progress, while also weakening their rivals by pipping them to his signature.

Both Middlesbrough and Burnley will expect to fight for promotion next season, with the added firepower required to give them the edge, while Derby hope they can strengthen enough to remain in the division.
