Burnley set for first piece of January transfer business as medical booked in and deal ‘imminent’
Burnley are on the verge of completing their first piece of business in the January transfer window.
The Premier League strugglers are in desperate need of a strong winter window as they already find themselves six points adrift of safety at the 18-game mark of the campaign.
Burnley are strong favourites to join Wolves in their inevitable relegation, and they are currently without a win in the league since the end of October.
Scott Parker is under pressure to improve results, and he desperately needs reinforcements to his squad in January if that is to become a genuine possibility.

Hannes Delcroix set for medical ahead of Burnley exit
Football finance expert Dr Dan Plumley recently told Football Insider that he expects Burnley to continue to live within their financial means, rather than splashing the cash this winter in a frantic bid to improve their fortunes.
The Lancashire outfit are not one of the Premier League’s big spenders by any means, and mid-season sales were always likely to be necessary in order to fund the required additions.
The Clarets now appear to be on the verge of sealing their first outgoing of the window, with Hannes Delcroix scheduled to undergo a medical at Lugano later this week, according to Sky Sports in Germany.
Delcroix spent last season out on loan at Swansea City and hasn’t made a single competitive appearance for Burnley so far in 2025-26.
Negotiations with the Swiss side are understood to be “at an advanced stage,” with an agreement regarding his sale deemed to be “imminent.”
Burnley’s staggering squad size
Parker is under pressure at Burnley at the moment, but he will surely feel hard done by if he is dismissed, given the squad that he has available to him.
The Clarets have a 34-man senior group, despite only being able to name a squad of 25 for the Premier League, meaning there is effectively still plenty of deadwood contracted at Turf Moor.
Burnley do not have enough quality to survive as things stand, and despite their abundant depth in terms of numbers, several of their players are simply not at Premier League quality.
They have been linked with some fairly exciting additions in the lead-up to the window, but if they are to bring in new faces, then a fire sale of the fringe players will surely have to follow.
