Burnley set sights on Carlos Corberan ‘from what I’ve heard’ – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed West Brom boss Carlos Corberan is a potential candidate for the Burnley managerial vacancy.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted he would be “very surprised” if the Clarets aren’t the “bookies’ favourites” to get promotion next term, alongside Leeds.
Vincent Kompany is close to vacating the Burnley hot seat – with negotiations ongoing over a move to Bayern Munich following Thomas Tuchel’s exit.
Burnley are now searching for a replacement following their relegation to the Championship in the 2023-24 campaign.
Corberan reached the playoff semi-finals with West Brom this season but were eliminated by Southampton after a 3-1 aggregate loss.
Corberan candidate to replace Kompany at Burnley, says Wyness
The Spaniard has been at The Hawthorns since October 2022 and has previously taken charge at Huddersfield and Olympiacos.
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “The number I’ve heard is around £10million, which is a very good compensation number for Kompany.
“Certainly, that deal has shocked a lot of people. It’s a good payout, and together with the parachute payment – Burnley should be very competitive.
“They’ve got experience at coming back up and I’d be very surprised if them and Leeds aren’t the bookies’ favourites.
“I’ve heard that Carlos Corberan could be one of the potential candidates. He came close in the playoffs with West Brom.

“I think with the resources Burnley could have, hiring him could be enough to get them back up into the Premier League.
“Burnley have the chance to go up, invest a bit more – and stay up.”
