Butland solid, 4/10 flops – Rangers player ratings v Viktoria Plzen
Rangers progressed to the play-off round of the Champions League despite suffering a shock 2-1 defeat at Viktoria Plzen.
The Gers went into the contest with a 3-0 lead from the first-leg after a comfortable win at Ibrox.
However, the hosts penned Rangers in for much of the contest and netted a goal before half-time to reduce the defecit.
Lyall Cameron calmed any nerves with an equaliser on the hour, though Rangers conceded a late goal and were thankful to goalkeeper Jack Butland.
Butland ensures Rangers progression

Jack Butland – 8
A busier night than predicted for Butland following the dominance of victory at Ibrox. Made a couple of fine reaction saves in the second half to deny Plzen a route back into the game.
James Tavernier – 6
Did enough to put off Prince Adu and force him wide when the forward was racing towards goal in the first half. A couple of wasteful corner deliveries and was forced to defend for a lot of the evening.
John Souttar – 6
A solid presence in defence when required for Rangers, Souttar was the best in a back four which came under pressure.
Nasser Djiga – 5
The Wolves loanee had a few shaky moments and was not as comfortable in possession when put under pressure.
Jefte – 5
Bursting run forward which forced the home goalkeeper into a good low save early on. Slipped at a crucial moment when chasing Amar Memic before the Bosnian found Rafiu Durosinmi in the box to pass home.
Antman can’t replicate first leg impact
Nico Raskin – 6
Raskin was good in possession whenever Rangers had a spell on the ball, but the midfielder needs to improve the defensive side of his game.
Lyall Cameron (Off for Kieran Dowell 69′) – 6
Had a half-chance in the first period when he volleyed an effort over the crossbar from inside the penalty area. Grabbed the vital goal with a poked effort past the goalkeeper. A good night for the 22-year-old.
Mohammed Diomande (Off for Joe Rothwell 68′) – 5
Worked hard but was ineffective in the middle of the park. Struggled to make an impact and was outshone by Cameron.
Oliver Antman – 5
Made a positive Rangers debut against Plzen in the first leg, but offered little going forward in this contest.
Djeidi Gassama – 5
The winger also struggled to make an impact on the match and was rarely seen using his pace and dribbling ability in the final third.
Cyriel Dessers (Off for Danilo 64′) – 4
A tough match for Dessers who received little service and was then forced off the pitch with a knee injury early in the second half.
Danilo makes quick impact

Substitutes
Danilo (On for Dessers 64′ ) – 7
Replaced the injured Dessers and just six minutes later assisted Cameron for the Rangers equaliser. Like Dessers though he ultimately received little service.
Joe Rothwell (On for Diomande 68′) – 6
Tenacious in the middle of the park, and helped protect the back four even if Viktoria Plzen could have grabbed a couple of goals.
Kieran Dowell (On for Cameron 69′ ) – 6
Brought on to freshen the legs in midfield, worked hard and ensured Rangers progressed.
Nedim Bajrami (On for Oliver Antman 87′) – 6
Came on to see the game out and he did that.
Oscar Cortes (On for Djeidi Gassama 87′) – 6
No time to make an impact but a welcome run out for the winger.
