Callum Wilson could be frozen out at Newcastle United as club-record swoop mooted – pundit
Kevin Campbell has insisted Callum Wilson could be frozen out of the Newcastle side if they complete a club-record move for Alexander Isak this summer.
The former Arsenal striker and La Liga TV pundit, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the England international’s injury record will make him a target for replacement in the off-season.
According to The Telegraph (12 July), Newcastle are weighing up a club-record bid for Isak, 22, and have already held talks with Real Sociedad about a potential move.

The report claims the Magpies would need to spend the remainder of their summer budget in order to seal the Sweden international’s signature.
Isak was heavily linked with Arsenal during the January window – but a move failed to materialise.
He scored 10 goals and notched three assists in all competitions for Real Sociedad last term.
Campbell suggested the striker’s hold-up play more than makes up for his lack of goals.
He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “Isak’s a real talent – we saw him linked with Arsenal many times in January.
“I think Newcastle are looking at someone at the top end of the pitch who is young and they can trust.
“Callum Wilson is a very good player, an England international – but has suffered injury after injury.
“It’s very difficult when you haven’t got your main man at the top end of the pitch.
“If they invest in Isak, he’s going to have to play.

“I’ve watched and covered him in Spain for a couple of seasons and he is a very good player.
“Maybe he doesn’t score enough goals – but he holds the ball up extremely well and Newcastle would be getting a fine player.”
