Callum Wilson: Wolves among two potential ‘destinations’ after West Ham termination
Wolves have been backed to sign Callum Wilson if the striker’s contract is terminated at West Ham.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes West Ham should have given Wilson a “fairer chance” at the club.
Wilson is set to leave West Ham by mutual consent after only joining the club as a free agent in August 2025.
The 33-year-old started eight Premier League games for the Hammers, scoring four goals, as they seek to retain their Premier League status.
Callum Wilson ‘too expensive’ for West Ham
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – is “surprised” that West Ham are willing to let Wilson leave.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes Wolves could profit if striker Jorgen Strand Larsen departs Molineux in January.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, I was thinking this the other day that if Strand-Larsen was to leave Wolves, then possibly Wolves could have Callum Wilson.
“I think Callum is the sort of player that would be as good in a relegation battle. And I’m surprised West Ham aren’t giving him a better chance of actually helping them out. Because I think he is the sort of player with Premier League experience who could actually do a turn for them.
“Again, I’m being told that there’s the pay as you play for Callum Wilson, and they’re finding it too expensive. Unless he’s getting a chance, his goals would make the difference. And I would say he’s a better quality than the two that they bought in.
“So it does surprise me. But that’s where I think he might end up. Otherwise, I know that there’s interest from Saudi. So those are the two options that I see right now. But somebody in a relegation battle or Saudi, I think is where Callum would go. I still think he could do a job for people, and I’m surprised West Ham haven’t given him a fairer chance.”

West Ham announce two new additions
Wilson may have been shown the door at West Ham due to the swift arrival of two new players in the January window.
West Ham have signed Pablo Felipe and Valentin Castellanos to bolster their attacking options for the second half of the season.
Castellanos went straight into the starting XI for West Ham’s 2-1 defeat by Nottingham Forest, with Felipe coming off the bench.
