Calvert-Lewin could be about to quit Everton – Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness fears Dominic Calvert-Lewin could quit soon after failing to renew his contract.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the 27-year-old will be a “superstar” if he remains on Merseyside.

Calvert-Lewin has less than 12 months to run on his contract at Everton and can currently negotiate a free transfer with foreign clubs in January.

Sources told Football Insider on Tuesday (30 July) that Everton are braced for late transfer window bids for the England international.

West Ham and Newcastle are believed to hold an interest in Calvert-Lewin, who hit eight goals in the 2023-24 campaign.

Calvert-Lewin will have to leave Everton if he doesn’t sign new deal, says Wyness

Wyness claimed clubs will be waiting until towards the end of the transfer window to make their move.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “There have been so many stories in the media.

“But nothing firm has really emerged at the moment.

“He’s a great asset when fit, and I think he will be fit for this season. Sean Dyche did a great job with him and his body last season.

“He’s a huge asset and personally I would love him to stay – and I hope he does. He can be a real superstar.

“He’s only got one year left on his deal. The way his valuation will decrease in the meantime means he will either have to sign a new deal or leave the club via a transfer.

“There’ll be plenty of clubs waiting around to see what he’s going to decide.”
