Calvin Ramsay told to U-turn on Liverpool after Sky reveal – pundit

Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay amid interest from Liverpool in his signature.

However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one urged the 18-year-old not to make the move to Anfield this summer.

Ramsay has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Pittodrie this season.

The right-back’s performances earned him the SFWA Young Player of the Year award.

Speaking shortly after winning the accolade, as quoted by Sky Sports (9 May), Ramsay revealed he hopes to reach the heights of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.

A source told this site (28 April) that Jurgen Klopp’s side are battling Leeds United for the Scotland Under-21 international.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on Ramsay’s future, Robinson said: “Ramsay is a top young player and a great professional.

“He is a credit to himself. He has been brilliant this season.

“A move to the Premier League is imminent for him whether that is to Liverpool or elsewhere.

“You couldn’t ask for a better role model than Trent Alexander-Arnold but why would he go to Liverpool? He has been playing week in, week out. Why go there if you’re not going to play?

“Yes, Trent is his idol but he needs to have a bigger role. At his stage of his career, sitting on the bench and watching Trent every week will not help him.”
