Cameron Archer: Major update on Aston Villa activating buy-back clause – sources
Aston Villa currently have no immediate plans to activate their buy-back clause for Sheffield United striker Cameron Archer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 22-year-old joined the Blades last summer (2023) but now looks set to be relegated with the Bramall Lane outfit.
Sheffield United sit bottom of the Premier League on 14 points and are 10 points from safety with 10 games of the 2023-24 campaign remaining.
Archer has endured a tough season with the Yorkshire side and there is limited interest from elsewhere heading into the summer window.
He cost the Blades a reported £18million last summer – with Aston Villa inserting a buy-back clause into that agreement.
Aston Villa not currently planning to bring Archer back to the club from Sheffield United
Archer could remain at Bramall Lane – even if Chris Wilder’s side suffer relegation to the Championship this season.
The England Under-21 international has hit just four goals in 25 games across all competitions for Sheffield United this season.
He is currently on the treatment table with a calf injury and has missed each of their last four Premier League games.
Archer scored four goals in 14 senior appearances for Aston Villa but was allowed to leave permanently after two successful loans in the Championship.

He is under contract at Sheffield United until June 2027.
Villa also inserted buy-back agreements in the deals which saw Aaron Ramsey and Jaden Philogene join Burnley and Hull City respectively last summer (2023).
