Cameron Carter-Vickers: Celtic tipped to seal ‘exceptional’ £10m deal after update – pundit

Cameron Carter-Vickers will turn down a return to the Premier League in favour of staying at Celtic next season.

That is the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 24-year-old’s future.

Carter-Vickers has starred for the Hoops since arriving on a season-long loan deal from Tottenham in August.

According to The Scottish Sun (9 March), the centre-half is not in Spurs boss Antonio Conte’s plans.

Celtic want to sign the USA international permanently and are said to face competition from Watford and Bournemouth when the window re-opens.

Tottenham will reportedly demand £10million for Carter-Vickers.

When asked for his assessment of Carter-Vickers’ future, Campbell told Football Insider: “Carter-Vickers has done exceptionally well at Celtic.

“Sometimes, as a centre-half, you have to go for a club that’s the right fit. I think he fits Celtic perfectly.

“There is going to be interest from Premier League clubs but there’s no guarantees if you make that move.

“Right now, he is starting every week at a huge club. If they win the league they will be playing in the Champions League next season. Celtic ticks a lot of boxes right now.

“I think he’ll choose to stay and that would be the smart move. Wherever else he goes there will be a lot more competition for the centre-back spot. Staying would be the right choice in my eyes.”
