Campbell cannot believe what Arteta reportedly said to Arsenal star
Kevin Campbell refuses to believe Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told Bernd Leno he would return between the sticks against Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the Sky Sports pundit and ex-Gunners striker insisted there was “no chance” of Aaron Ramsdale being dropped for the north London derby.
According to reliable Bild journalist Christian Falk, Arteta told Leno earlier this month he would have a break of two matches before returning between the sticks yesterday.
However, Ramsdale retained his starting spot for Sunday’s clash after keeping back-to-back clean sheets against Norwich and Burnley.
Arsenal ran out 3-1 victors over Spurs at the Emirates.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on Arteta’s decision, Campbell said: “There was no chance of Ramsdale getting dropped.

“In professional football you live week to week.
“Ramsdale kept two clean sheets going into yesterday. He has conceded just one goal since he’s come in. He looks like he is marshalling that defence which is great to see.
“Arteta would’ve been crazy to let Leno back in. I never saw it happening.
“I don’t even think Arteta would’ve said that to Leno. Why would you say that?
“Possession is nine tenths of the law. If you are in possession and you play well, you play again. Ramsdale has done a super job in goal. He makes a real difference because the defence seem to be calm when he is back there.
“It was difficult for him going to Arsenal but fair play to him, he’s made a massive difference so far. He’s the number one right now.”
