Campbell can't believe Arsenal could pay '£50m' for White after Sky update
Kevin Campbell is baffled by Arsenal making a move to sign Ben White from Brighton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker claimed the interest “doesn’t make sense” with William Saliba set to return to the club this summer following a successful loan spell with Nice.
Sky Sports reported today (16 June) that Brighton have rejected a £40million bid from Arsenal for White, 23.
According to The Athletic (11 June), Graham Potter’s side could demand as much as £50million for the centre-half who is currently representing England at the Euros.
“It just doesn’t make sense to me,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“Arsenal have a good few centre-backs and let’s not forget Saliba is coming back in. He is rated very highly. They have already spent lots of money on him and Gabriel.
“You ask yourself the question, where is Ben White going to play? I’m just not sure.
“I am not convinced that Arsenal need him, especially for £50million. Don’t get me wrong, he is a very good player but £50m? Too much money has been invested in other players like Saliba and Gabriel.
“It is a matter of what is going to happen next if they sign White. If you spend £50million on him you would think he would be playing. I’m not convinced.”
