Kevin Campbell has urged Arsenal to sign a left-back, a midfielder and another striker before the transfer window shuts tonight.
The former Gunners striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the club sign a “bigger” striker who can act as a target man and get on the end of crosses.
Arsenal have made two signings in the January window to date, with Martin Odegaard and Mat Ryan arriving on loan from Real Madrid and Brighton respectively.
There has also been a significant number of exits, with Mesut Ozil, Matt Macey and Sokratis released, while Sean Kolasinac and William Saliba have left on loan.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles could also be set to leave the club – West Brom, Newcastle, Leicester City and Southampton are all reported to be interested in taking the midfielder on loan.
When asked by Football Insider where he believes Arsenal need to strengthen before the window shuts tonight, Campbell said: “A natural left-back is one position that is needed.
“I still think the midfield is another position in which Arsenal could strengthen and even another striker.
“Arteta likes playing Aubemayang wide at times so there is room for another striker.
“I would like to see somebody a bit bigger, somebody who isn’t the norm. Arsenal lack a player who can attack crosses. We have got nobody.
“If they wanted to change it up, get the full backs down the line and whip crosses in, we need a player who can out jump centre-halves.”
