Campbell fears for Arsenal after latest Saka injury update

Kevin Campbell has insisted Bukayo Saka’s potential injury absence “isn’t great news for Arsenal”.

The former Gunners striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, branded the 20-year-old one of the north London club’s “star performers”.

As shown by footage from Sky Sports, Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur appeared to volley the Gunners star’s standing leg well after the ball had gone in the closing minutes of the first half.

When asked if he thought the challenge was worthy of a red card, Arteta replied: “Absolutely.”

As reported by Football.London’s Connor Humm today (20th October), Saka did not train yesterday as he nurses the calf injury suffered on Monday.

The winger has already emerged unscathed through one injury scare this season.

He was substituted after going down during Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Brighton.

He has appeared in each of the north London club’s eight Premier League games this season.

Campbell admitted Saka wasn’t on song against Crystal Palace but insisted he would be a big miss if he were to be absent against Aston Villa – or even beyond.

“I didn’t think he was having a great game before the injury,” he told Football Insider.

“It seemed like there was some fatigue or some imbalance in the front three.

“After 20 minutes they couldn’t seem to get things going for whatever reason.

“That is until Lacazette came on, and we know what he can bring to the table.

“Saka being out isn’t great news for Arsenal moving forward because he is one of their star performers.”

In other news, a pundit has pointed the finger at one Arsenal star for his Palace performance.
