Campbell issues emphatic Man United verdict after Antony quotes emerge

Kevin Campbell has claimed Man United manager Erik ten Hag is not to blame for the lacklustre display at Man City.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said the 52-year-old needs time to integrate new signings and implement his ideas.

The Red Devils lost 6-3 to Man City at the Etihad on Sunday (2 October).

The final score was flattering for the visitors who were 4-0 down at half-time.

Speaking to club media ahead of the fixture (25 September), Antony said the team is getting to “know each other better game by game”.

The Brazilian winger suggested the squad needs to know each others game inside out to reach the top level.

When asked by Football Insider if the number of new faces at Old Trafford excuses their display at the Etihad, Campbell said: “We have seen the good and bad of Man United.

“In certain games they have really struggled. But they also picked up four wins on the spin. It has been a really mixed start.

“There is a lot of new players there and a new manager so it is understandable to an extent.

Man United

“Right now, I do not know what Manchester United is going to turn up. Just when you think they have got themselves together…

“It is going to take a bit of time. If they were ever going to get tested it was going to be against that Man City team.”
