Campbell lauds ‘brilliant’ Smith Rowe at Arsenal after Standard reveal

Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on the “brilliant” Emile Smith Rowe and claimed “the sky is the limit” for the Arsenal midfielder.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners striker is adamant an international call is around the corner for the 21-year-old.

Smith Rowe started Arsenal’s 2-0 EFL Cup win against Leeds United on Tuesday night and played 72 minutes in a much-changed team.

The attacking midfielder has contributed two goals and two assists in nine appearances in the Premier League this season.

Speaking to the London Evening Standard (October 22nd), Smith Rowe revealed he would “love” to stay at the Emirates “forever”.

He added that a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad would be a “dream”.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Smith Rowe’s form, Campbell said: “Smith Rowe is just outstanding.

“He’s been brilliant of late.

“Look, the kid loves Arsenal. He has come through the ranks. He is an Arsenal lad through and through.

“As far as I’m concerned, he is starting to establish himself in the team. There is a lot more to come from him which is the exciting thing.

“If he continues to perform, he will get international recognition. He can’t be far away. He is performing at the top level.

“I think the sky is the limit with Smith Rowe. [Bukayo] Saka stole the headlines last season but Smith Rowe is the next one. He has the quality, that’s for sure.”
