Campbell makes bold claim about Tottenham chairman Levy after confirmation

Kevin Campbell has backed the appointment of Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to the European Club Association board.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker claimed there is “no-one better” than the 59-year-old when it comes to negotiations.

As confirmed yesterday (7th September), Levy has been voted onto the executive board of the ECA ahead of Manchester City CEO Ferran Soriano.

The Spurs chairman replaces Manchester United’s Ed Woodward in the influential role months after the debacle of the European Super League.

Levy reportedly won the race to the position following support from Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal.

When asked by Football Insider assist editor Dylan Childs for his assessment of the news, Campbell said:

“Levy has been in his role a long time at Spurs. One thing is for sure, he knows his way around football.

“He has come under quite a bit of stick sometimes but you have to ride it out as a chairman which he has. The fans do not know the ins and outs of the situation at the end of the day.

“He has battled the likes of Harry Kane and won. Kane is staying so you have to admire his conviction.

“I think it is a good appointment. Levy is a tough negotiation, that’s for sure. If something needs to be done there is probably no-one better to do it, let’s be honest.”
